Last night I got to hit up Blood Incantation’s Absolute Elsewhere tour as it rolled through town. I could not for the life of me remember who the opening band was for the show, even though I looked it up at least a half dozen times. The band launched into their set, I took photos, enjoyed what was going on, and about halfway throgh decided to google again who it was that I was enjoying.
It was New York progressive black metal band Krallice! The best part of a two bill show is the opening band basically gets a headlining set and Krallice used their hour to go through blistering black metal tracks and progressive ambient pieces, taking listeners on a journey. I think the audience was a little lackluster during their set but the musical exploration that was the hour of music created some lulls. The band seemed to appreciate the audience as it was their first night on the tour.
After a quick changeover Blood Incantation hit the stage. The band ran through their new album, Absolute Elsewhere, playing the two twenty+ minute tracks back to back to kick off their set before diving into tracks from their back catalog. I know a lot of people loved Hidden History of the Human Race, but it wasn’t a record I ever got around to when it was released. I only went into Blood Incantations back catalog after hearing, and loving, Absolute Elsewhere. Whatever issues I had with the crowd during Krallice were gone when Blood Incantation hit the stage, as everyone in the audience was all in. The band sounded phenomenal and made me an even bigger fan.
Enjoy some photos of the show!
