Something We Always Wanted To Do
Happy Friday! I know, I know, I spammed your inboxes this week with Warped Tour photos, but it’s been a minute since an actual podcast email!
It is officially summer and I think this summer, things might actually slow down for As The Story Grows. Although every time I make such a declaration, my inbox fills up and interviews stack and I’m staring at another month where we aired 3 episodes every week. But at the time of this writing, July should be a much slower month for the podcast.
Monday on the podcast we welcome Dimitri Denat and JC Condette from French post rock band Lost In Kyiv to the podcast! The new Lost In Kyiv record, We Are All Going To Be Fine, is out today on Pelagic Records! It’s absolutely album of the year material! This is a fun conversation about the post rock scenes in America and France, the rise of AI, the band going in a heavier direction, and much more!
Wednesday was my Warped Tour recap podcast episode. A not so fast through the good, bad, and interesting that I got to experience last weekend.
And today we have There Were Wires drummer Ryan Begley on the show! Vessel, the new There Were Wires record, is out next week on Iodine Recordings. I’m a long time fan of There Were Wires and the new record is the perfect evolution for the band. The conversation with Ryan was insightful and thoughtful as we dive into art and tattooing, the love of hardcore, the thought and care being put into physical media packaging and a lot more.
Something I’ve been enjoying recently is Jimmy Eat World’s Bleed American song breakdown that they’ve been sharing on YouTube. The band sits down with producer and engineer of that album, Mark Trombino, and look back at the demos of the songs and the songwriting and tracking process for the band’s most iconic album. They are currently 3 songs into the album and have been dropping 1 video a week!
Have a great weekend! I promise not to send a billion emails next week!
